A Tree for Bob Robinson

The Friends were honoured to be able to plant a tree for Bob who was one of the most long serving and dedicated members of the Friends Committee. Bob had a particular passion for reaching out to young people and children to get them enthused and involved with nature and he never missed an opportunity to volunteer. He loved Clapham Common and we are so happy that he now has a permanent place of remembrance there with this beautiful Liriodendron tulipifera.

The Friends organised the planting of 10 memorial trees this year, 8 in memory of a loved one, one to celebrate a wedding and one to commemorate 110th Anniversary of Battersea WI.  Memorial trees are so special and it’s always a moving experience to hear people’s stories and to witness the thoughts and poetry that accompanies the occasion.
